Carebility Launches Coworker to Complete Up to 85% of the MDS and Expand Skilled Nursing Staff Capacity

Former SimpleLTC leaders bring experience serving more than 8,500 SNFs to AI that completes assessment work, connects supporting evidence, and keeps clinicians in control.

More MDS capacity. Same team.

DALLAS — October 6, 2026 — Carebility today introduced Carebility Coworker™, an AI-powered solution that completes up to 85% of the Minimum Data Set (MDS), helping skilled nursing providers accomplish more with the staff they already have. Coworker retrieves resident documentation, finds answers in the record, and completes MDS responses with supporting evidence. Clinicians review, edit, and approve the work.

For providers facing staffing shortages, assessment deadlines continue even when positions are vacant or nurses are pulled into other responsibilities. AAPACN’s 2025 Nurse Assessment Coordinator Work Study identified workload and stress/burnout as respondents’ two highest-rated challenges. The study also found that 38% of respondents provided direct resident care, averaging 11 hours per week among that group.

Coworker takes on the documentation retrieval and assessment preparation that consume clinicians’ time. It completes responses across 17 of the MDS’s 20 sections, with supporting evidence for clinician review and approval. Completion depends on the documentation available in the resident record.

“The next chapter of skilled nursing technology has to give people time back,” said Jason Jones, co-founder and CEO of Carebility. “We’ve spent years working alongside providers, and we know they can’t keep adding responsibilities to clinicians who are already stretched thin. With Coworker, AI takes on the MDS work so clinicians can focus on review and judgment. Our vision goes beyond one workflow: helping providers put AI to work on their terms, with control over their own data, confidence in the answers, and more capacity to care for residents.”

Built by people who know the work

Carebility’s leadership includes product, technology, and business leaders who helped grow SimpleLTC to serve more than 8,500 skilled nursing facilities. The company combines that experience with hands-on clinical reimbursement knowledge and AI engineering to address the practical demands of assessment work.

Several large SNF organizations are participating as innovation partners, helping test assessments and refine how Coworker fits into clinical workflows. Their involvement gives the development team direct feedback on the documentation, review, and operational challenges providers encounter.

In internal testing, Coworker searched resident records and prepared MDS responses for four residents simultaneously in under 10 minutes. Results from the 20 most recent assessments included analysis of up to 45 clinical documents and reports per assessment. Timing excludes clinician review, corrections, and approval.

Completed responses. Evidence ready for review.

Coworker goes beyond checking an already-completed assessment. It finds the information and completes responses, with supporting evidence available for clinicians to verify. Missing or conflicting documentation is flagged for attention. Qualified clinicians review every response, make any needed edits, and approve the work before Coworker enters it into the EHR. Coworker does not make clinical decisions or submit assessments to CMS.

That organized evidence also helps simplify preparation for Additional Documentation Requests (ADRs), audits, and surveys.

“We’re excited to work with Carebility to help MDS coordinators spend less time searching lengthy medical records,” said Sherri Harris, RN-BC, RAC-CTA, RAC-CT, director of clinical reimbursement at Fundamental. “Coworker brings clinically relevant information and supporting evidence directly to the coordinator for review, helping them validate responses and make accurate coding decisions. It also helps reduce the burden of gathering documentation for ADRs, audits, and surveys.”

“We know the time and skill it takes to get an MDS right; we do that work alongside our clients every day,” said Amie Martin, OTR/L, CHC, RAC-CT, MJ, president of Proactive LTC Consulting. “What stands out about Carebility Coworker is that it streamlines preparation and shows clinicians the evidence available to support each section. That’s what makes it exciting: the potential to work more efficiently with greater accuracy while keeping the clinician in charge.”

Meet Coworker at AHCA

Carebility is scheduling demonstrations and welcoming additional organizations to participate in the rollout. Attendees can meet Coworker at booth 530 during the AHCA/NCAL Convention & Expo’s exhibit days, October 12–13 in Boston.

Jones will also address responsible AI adoption, provider control of data, and clinical oversight in presentations at the ADVION and NARA conferences this October.
